In 1945, the world, except for Germany and Japan, seemed to mostly like us American folks. Today, much of the world doesn’t — except now Germany and Japan do.

War has a way of turning everything inside out and upside down. Enemies become friends. Friends become enemies. The needs of the moment decide who we stand next to and from whom we stand apart.
